Our Story

America has always been shaped by immigrants. From the earliest settlers who crossed oceans, to families arriving through Ellis Island, to workers, dreamers, and innovators who came from every continent — all have added their strength to this country. Alongside Indigenous peoples whose roots run deepest, their contributions form the story of America.

Yet today, when the word immigrant is spoken, it too often conjures a narrow image. We forget that unless our ancestry is Indigenous to this land, we are all the descendants of immigrants.

The Unity Flag was created to remind us of that truth.
